Preparing For Your Inspection

There are a few things you can do to get your boat ready for its inspection:

Make sure you have the correct fire extinguishers fitted, and that they are still in date. Also make sure you have a fire blanket. If you are unsure about which extinguisers you need, then give Ross Boats a call and we will advise you.

Check that your batteries are secure and covered correctly, and that the master switch is clearly labelled.

Make sure you have the signs in place for any LPG valves, or fuel valves.

Make sure your boat is tidy and there is easy access for inspection.

Ross Boats offer a Boat Safety Inspection, in accordance with the latest BSS guidelines.

A BSS certificate is like an MOT for your boat, and is a requirement of most inland waterways navigation authorities, and a pre-requisite before you can apply for a license.

Our fees for the inspection vary, prices start from just £125.

We mainly serve the Staffordshire/Cheshire/Derbyshire and Shropshire area, but we can travel further afield with a nominal mileage charge.
